But when you are touching your fake self, it is amazing what you can get away with!

Are Mel Gibson’s movies SO good that we’re willing to overlook yet another batch of racist crap?

It’s time to strangle Mr. Gibson where it hurts the most — his wallet.

(Incidentally, the acting talent of the guy pretending to strangle the pretend actor is absolutely PHENOMENAL!)

Wish granted. For the first time ANYWHERE, here are the voices of George Clooney’s brides!

JUDIEANN T. (California) -- Lots of people were passing up the photo op with Mr. Clooney - perhaps to avoid the embarrassment of other people pointing and laughing, but how could I pass it up?!

ALLISON S. (North Carolina) - "I think they should make it Johnny Depp, but I guess I could settle."

BRITTANY T. (California) -- "When we walked up to the scene, my mom was like "Look! It's every girl's dream! You can marry George Clooney!" My boyfriend said, "Luckily for me, Brittany doesn't have that particular dream." To which I replied, "How do YOU know?" After that, all the pictures were of him threatening George."

ILYA (Massachusetts) -- "George is great, but my eye is on the larger prize: every "Oceans 11" star is a target."

VAL S. -- "Nothing will confuse the crap out of people more than a lesbian in a ball cap wearing a wedding dress pretending to marry a dude!"

RON N. -- As Shauna and I both saw George Clooney, at the same time we said he is HOT. That's when Shauna said, "You should pose with him in that wedding dress!" Well, she put me up to the dare and I had to take it. The rest is history!

HILARY M. (North Carolina) -- "We went to the wax museum the day after our wedding in Vegas. That's why my hair was all done up. We got married by Elvis at The Graceland Chapel. I definitely recommend it, way cheaper than a regular wedding!"

ABBEY H. (Illinois) -- "George is not even facing either one of us. He's completely not involved in whatever polygamous drama is going on."

ASHLEY B. -- "I can't even think STRAIGHT!"

But what might be the most shocking thing of all is that this Las Vegas wedding chapel offers only one size and one style of wedding dress!

Getting chummy with Evel Knievel: Typical stiff pose at the Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum

Take a look at Tacky Tourist Photos co-founder and curator Darren Garnick in the picture above. Sure, he’s one of the world’s most knowledgeable authorities on kitschy travel snapshots. But even he can occasionally forget the basics. There’s nothing particularly bad about this photo, but there’s nothing especially creative about it either.

The best Tacky Tourist moments happen when the model immerses himself or herself into the scene — or to borrow a tired phrase from American Idol, when the TTP model “makes it their own.”

Now take a look at artist Chandra Leming ‘s contribution:

Chandra takes a wild spin

Chandra is comfortable with who she is and her confidence shows. Would Evel be upset if one of his fans acted recklessly with one of his bikes? Perhaps. He was known to have a slight temper in his day. But Chandra doesn’t care. She’s badass.

More badass than Evel.

Even if Garnick dyed his hair pink and got a tattoo and nose ring, he still couldn’t pull this scene off.

To go back to American Idol-speak, it’s all about picture (song) choice and knowing who you are.

Aside from the models’ acting talent, there is also a stark difference in the framing here. Leming’s photographer went for the retro 1970s logo as a backdrop, which would look fantastic on a lunchbox. Garnick’s photog went for the pretty blue background, not a horrible choice, but also not the best one available.

Bottom Line: It takes two to tango. Make sure that your Tacky Tourist Model and Tacky Tourist Photographer communicate with each other and push each other to do their best work.

In retrospect, it should have been obvious that Tiger Woods had much more on his mind on the golf course. Look at that gaze. We suspect he isn’t thinking about what par this hole is — or that he even cares that this woman has a rather unusual putting technique.
