A Virgin’s Dream Deferred: Tacky Tourist Photos from Outer Space

Looks like we’ll have to cancel those last minute reservations for Venus.

Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic space tourist shuttle was aiming to have passengers floating in the aisles by 2007.  Now, venture capitalist Alan Walton tells the Associated Press he wants his $200,000 ticket deposit back if he can’t be flying first class before his 74th birthday next April.

Aerospace guru Peter Diamandis, founder of the prestigious Ansari X Prize, told the AP he expects space tourists to become a reality within the next 18-24 months.

That’s way past your deadline, Mr. Walton. Perhaps you may want to reallocate some of your play money into a start-up that won’t break your heart…. Tacky Tourist Photos?
